Artist's Description

Featured: The Equine Artist Group

Captured by award winning photographer Joan Davis in the spring of 2013 during the Great American Horse Drive. The Sombrero Ranch Horse Drive has been a tradition for over 40 years as up to 600 horses are driven by cowboys and cowgirls from their winter pasture to their summer home. This image was captured on the final day of the drive where the horses and cowboys / cowgirls have covered over 50 miles starting on the open range of Colorado and traveling through the dusty back roads. You can see fatigue in this cowgirls face as she leads the horses home.

About Joan Davis

Joan Davis

ABOUT JOAN DAVIS Joan Davis has spent her entire life surrounded by horses – first as a trainer and a competitor – and now as a photographer. A riding accident forced her permanently out of the saddle in 2001. Her camera is the way she stays connected to the animals she so loves. Most weekends she can be found behind the lens of her Canon camera photographing horses riders competing in the sportl of eventing. On occasion, she is able to sneak away for some non-equine adventures with her camera. You will find some of those photos here. Please enjoy this journey with her through her photography.
