Captured by award winning photographer Joan Davis in the spring of 2013 during the Great American Horse Drive. The Sombrero Ranch Horse Drive has been a tradition for over 40 years as up to 600 horses are driven by cowboys and cowgirls from their winter pasture to their summer home. This image was captured on the final day of the drive where the horses and cowboys / cowgirls have covered over 50 miles starting on the open range of Colorado and traveling through the dusty back roads. This horse savvy cowboy keeps a watchful eye on the herd encouraging them to Follow Me home to the summer ranch
